Chris Rock's brother and fellow comedian Tony Rock calls out Will Smith for allegedly-lying about reaching out following the 2022 Oscars incident
Will Smith's physical confrontation with Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards, also known as the "slap heard around the world", had a tight-grasp on the hearts and minds of those in the public and entertainment industry, bringing to question the boundaries in stand-up comedy as well as the details behind Smith's relationship with his partner Jada Pinkett Smith.
Months after the controversial event, Will Smith released a video sharing his state of mind and what he had been up to during his public-absence since the slap, including a revelation that he had reached out to Chris Rock to talk about the matter. However, the Fresh Prince star then stated that "the message that came back was that he’s not ready to talk."

Based on this detailing from Smith alone, one could assume that the Academy Award-winning actor had at least done the due-diligence of extending an olive-branch to Rock in an attempt to make amends, but the comedian just was not ready to speak yet.
That, however, may not be the case, according to Chris Rock's brother Tony Rock.
In an interview with BigBoyTV, Tony Rock refuted the notion that Smith had reached out to his brother at all. "That wasn’t true, that wasn’t true," according to Rock. "I think like, two nights later, he said, ‘I reached out to Chris, and he didn’t want to talk.’ That wasn’t true."

Rock then declared that he is open to talking to Smith, though he does not appear to be expecting the actor to actually be reaching out anytime soon.
"My phone number has never changed. So, I just thought I’d get a phone call one day like, ‘Ay, let’s just you and I just talk.’ It hasn’t happened, so I guess it’s not going to happen."
