For those waiting on more info the greatly-anticipated Verzuz match-up of Diddy vs. Jermaine Dupri, they can now rest easy now that a date and venue has been confirmed.
Busta Rhymes revealed the details on Sunday (May 7th) with a video posted to social media, in which P. Diddy himself revealed that the face-off with Dupri is to take place September 8th at Madison Square Garden in NYC.
Check out the video here:
Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, co-founders of Verzuz, have yet to formally announce information on the event, but there has yet to be response to disprove Puff Daddy's comments, so perhaps it would be safe to assume what he says to be the truth.
JD initially challenged Diddy to a Verzuz battle back in 2021, but was denied on the grounds of the latter feeling like Dupri was not a worthy challenger. The dismissal was followed by the two getting into a shouting match over Instagram Live, followed by Dupri claiming that Verzuz battle would not be possible anyway due to Diddy not having enough guests to accompany him.
"I feel like it’s a performance-based thing now and the majority of Puff’s records, who’s gonna perform? Yeah, [you can bring out] The LOX, but you can’t have nobody do Big’s verses! And I don’t know that Ma$e would come out with him no more, so I don’t think that it would happen based on that. All my people, we rockin’ and we coming’ with a whole lot of energy!"
Mark your calendars for September 8th, for the showdown of the century.
