Recently in the music scene, it appears diss tracks have become the focal point of conversation and are steadily pouring in. The most recent artist to drop a track targeting another is none other than King Combs, the son of hip-hop icon Diddy, or as he prefers Sean Love Combs.
Sunday, May 12th Christian Combs (26) released the song "Pick a Side." A song dedicated to his father's haters. By now mostly everyone is aware of Diddy's ongoing legal situation. Throughout the two-minute song, King Combs seems to address all those who chose to abandon his father and family during this trying time and mentions 50 Cent. He raps, “When all they had was 50 Cent who put the city on the map?/ Stop lying, pops been hated on by many men and n***a, that’s fine/ They gon’ try to stop these Eminems and they gon’ die trying.”
50 Cent is notorious for never holding back when it comes to commenting on Diddy. Some might even say he persistently targets and teases him for amusement, consistently sharing his thoughts about Diddy oftentimes unprovoked. Their rift is believed to have begun years ago when both moguls ventured into the vodka industry. Despite Diddy's attempt to call a truce, 50 Cent remains firm in prolonging the feud.
Many influential people in the music industry shared both their feelings and concerns after hearing the diss record stating the rapper's decision to release it was unwise for various reasons. Firstly, engaging in drama with 50 Cent is not advisable, as he frequently crosses boundaries and is known for his excessive trolling and joking. Secondly, the track references a recent FBI raid on his father's mansions, suggesting they might have overlooked a property. Combs rapped,
"Knock them walls down like when them feddy boys raiding both of our cribs. Too bad they ain’t know we bought the one next door. ‘Cause that’s the one they missed.”
Both listeners and industry insiders unanimously agreed that this was a risky move, especially considering his family is still under investigation. The Many Men, rapper also chimed in, in response to this line. On Instagram and X (Formerly Twitter) he posted,
Alongside a series of other social media posts regarding the family's ongoing legal situation. It's safe to say Christian might have woken up the bear and secured a place on the rapper's lengthening roster of enemies. He joins fellow rapper Ja Rule, singer-songwriter Teairra Marí, and his father Diddy.
