Hot 97 Summer Jam 2024 Recap

By: Vanesta CeToute

Hip-hop's hottest concert of the year took place yesterday and The Now Media has got you covered with a recap in case you missed it. By now if you aren't sure of the event we're referencing... it's Summer Jam! Hot 97's Summer Jam 2024 took place Sunday, June 2nd at NYC's UBS Arena! New Jersey's MetLife Stadium hosted the event for years, but last year, the concert returned to its roots in NYC, and this year, it's the same story.

As always Summer Jam is always filled with some of the music industry's greatest talents, both new and seasoned. This year the concert also celebrated thirty years! Thirty Years of Summer Jam, hip-hop's anticipated Summer Concert. The lineup for Summer Jam 2024 included great acts such as Doja Cat and Friends, Sexxy Red, Davido, French Montana, Lola Brooke, Cash Cobain, Bay Swag, Connie Diiamond, Honey Bxby, Method Man & Redman, Erik B & Rakim, Jadakiss and so many more.

Opening the show shortly after 7 pm, The Blue Haired Bandit Connie Diiamond hit the stage igniting the crowd with excitement and surprise. To everyone's surprise, Diamond brought out Dusty Locane. Together the two brought big Bronx and Brooklyn energy to the Summer Jam Stage.

No Summer Jam would be complete without a tribute. This year's tribute was dedicated to the one and only Mister Cee who sadly passed away earlier this on April 10th. Mister Cee was an iconic DJ, broadcaster, record executive, and radio personality whose skillsets were impeccable. Honoring the icon were legendary figures such as Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Peter Gunz, and Method Man & Redman.

The ladies dominated the stage as well, both Sexxy Red and headliner Doja Cat got the crowd out of their seats for their amazing performances.

Holding down the artist interviews for The Now Media was known comedian and the internet's favorite, Mr. 9 TIMES OUUTA 10 Rayy Rayy. Before and following the artists' performances, guests conversed with Rayy Rayy on the red carpet, where he fired off a series of rapid-fire questions at each of them.

Rayy Rayy caught up with Cash Cobain, who made his debut performance at Summer Jam Sunday night.

During their discussion, Rayy Rayy asked about Cash Cobain's experience and also noted that while the rapper may be new to mainstream media and music, he has been leaving his mark since last year. To that Cash Cobain agreed.

Mr. 9 TIMES OUTTA 10 also interviewed rappers ASAP Ferg, French Montana, Lola Brooke, and many more. Speaking with French Montana, fans and watchers heard him express his feelings before heading on stage " I feel good to still be doing this, still looking good." In general, the overall theme for each interviewee was excitement, gratitude, and joy.

Doja Cat stunned everyone with her set and performance as she brought out Gunna, Ferg (also known as A$AP Ferg), and Busta Rhymes. Closing the show with her chart-topping anthem "Paint the Town Red," Cat bid the audience farewell. Another year, another Summer Jam in the books. So what do you say, same time, next year?
