The rapper surprises fans with not just a new song, but an unorthodox release and collaboration
Those have been waiting in anticipation for a new release from J. Cole had their wishes granted with the recent drop of "Procrastination (Broke)", a new single with a unique collaboration involved. Bvtman, a rather unknown producer from Brooklyn, New York, actually served as inspiration behind Cole's song, as the rapper revealed to Bvtman in a message that he was struggling to finalize his track before he decided to search "J. Cole type beat" on YouTube and eventually found the NYC-based producer's channel. Needless to say, the Roc Nation artist was impressed.
As a token of thanks for the inspiration, Cole messaged Bvtman to give his appreciation and share the track so that the producer could upload the song on his YouTube channel rather than the conventional method of distribution through music streaming channels like Spotify or Apple Music. "This song should live on your channel and serve as a thank you to you and every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world,” Cole declared in his message. "This is some shit that would normally stay in the vault, but I don’t want to hold onto the music like that no more...This is for you and whoever else need to hear it. God bless bro and keep doing what you do!”
The YouTube upload has so far garnered over 500k views in less than half a day, and Bvtman appears to be quite grateful for the recognition, as he expresses in an Instagram revealing the DM's from J. Cole. “Yo. If you know me you know what this post means to me & what this song means to me. If you know me you know this is my peace finally, my dream. Much love to @dreamville & @realcoleworld & @kingofqueenz25.” Bvtman's YouTube channel is full of type beats like the one utilized by Cole, each inspired by the work of artists like Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, André 3000, Drake, and more, including more type beats made with Cole's style in mind.
