Various celebrities react to the death of iconic singer and Queen of Rock 'n Roll Tina Turner
Tina Turner, the legendary singer who's voice and swagger earned her the title of Queen of Rock 'n Roll, sadly passed away on Wednesday (May 24th) in Switzerland after a long-term battle with illness.
In response to the iconic artist's death, saddened fans of the iconic artist expressed their reactions across social media and various publications, with many of these reactions being celebrities inspired by Turner's greatness.
Renowned-actress Angela Bassett, who earned an Oscar-nomination for her portrayal of Turner in the 1993 film What's Love Got To Do With It, provided a statement to The Hollywood Reporter where she shared her perspective on the singer's life.
"How do we say farewell to a woman who owned her pain and trauma and used it as a means to help change the world? Through her courage in telling her story, her commitment to stay the course in her life, no matter the sacrifice, and her determination to carve out a space in rock and roll for herself and for others who look like her, Tina Turner showed others who lived in fear what a beautiful future filled with love, compassion, and freedom should look like."
Mick Jagger gave his response on Twitter, stating that Turner was "inspiring, warm, funny and generous," and that she had been a big help to him when he was younger.
Mariah Carey made a post on Instagram declaring Turner as a "trailblazer" and a "survivor". Forest Whitaker and Magic Johnson both took to Twitter to give their respect to the singer, with the former calling on us to "reflect on her resilience" and the latter stating that she gave on the best live performances he had ever seen.
Ciara and Nicki Minaj chimed in as well, with the former stating that "Heaven has gained an angel" and Minaj declaring that calling Turner a legend and icon "doesn't even scratch the surface."

Tina had earned numerous accolades throughout her career, including over a dozen awards from the Grammys, a Lifetime Achievement Award, 7 Billboard Year-End Charts Awards, several Guinness World Records, an NAACP award, and two inductions into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.
